Vogelsburg in Volkach

nice view of the Main loop; Restaurant very well attended in 'normal' times. The atmosphere in the restaurant is a matter of taste. We were 'unlucky' and got - because without a reservation - no table - the fish sandwich snack 'standing hands-free' was delicious! 2019 in summer!

Shortly before the Lock Down Light, we wanted to support the local region again and go out to eat in the Vogelsburg. It was late afternoon on Friday. Before we went to the restaurant, we took a little walk. We were completely alone, no other people around. But first I would like to mention that we are not Covid opponents, on the contrary, I belong to the risk group myself and always observe the AHA rules and always put on the mask as soon as several people are near me. While my wife was studying the menu, a man came from the back of the restaurant and asked if he could help us. I replied that we just want to take a look around. Suddenly the man snapped at us where our mask was. I replied quite normally, I have it with me, but there is nobody around here. He was about 8 meters away from me and from my wife a good 11 meters away in the entrance to the house. And then he really got going, whether we still didn't understand that we are living in a pandemic and that we have to wear a mask, he verbally attacked us like a Pittbull Terrier. I mentioned again (not quite so kindly) we are here alone. In the end I mentioned that we actually wanted to eat here, thanked me ironically and we left. This is my first review that I write so negatively. And we need ourselves with such freaking out, not be surprised that there are so many mask opponents. We do not know whether we have dealt with an employee or maybe even with someone from the management - we only know one thing, that even if you are in a bad mood, you do not deal with someone. first of all thanks for your answer, even if I again miss any politeness, but it doesn't matter. I am trying to answer politely now. Yes you are right it is mandatory to wear a mask, yes you are right everyone should stick to it. Your interpretation is simply wrong. Mask requirement in Bavaria is: For users as well as control and service personnel in public transport (excluding drivers) and the associated facilities, in wholesalers and retail outlets with customer traffic and sales outlets in markets (also applies to personnel, except in counter and checkout areas, provided that other structural protective measures here taken), in service companies with customer traffic, in medical and dental practices and other practices of medical, nursing or therapeutic facilities (if the service to be provided allows this), at church services and similar gatherings, when visiting hospitals, care facilities and similar facilities, during the practical driving test and practical driving lessons (for all occupants). We didn't go into their place without a mask, we would never do that. We were alone in the outside area. In Volkach itself we put our mask on during an evening walk as soon as the signs were in the pedestrian zone after we had dinner with a very nice Greek. It is incomprehensible to me how you, as a restaurant owner, deal with customers in such a tone. I would like to emphasize again that we were alone, stood outside of your building and you too stood a long way away at the door without a mask. For us, this is not a public place where many people are, because that is where a mask is required. And by the way, when we arrived, we met a few people without a mask at the parking lot. So if you want people to always wear masks on your premises, then a tip, put up a sign in the parking lot. But don't lecture someone with incorrect information just to distract from your rude behavior. Unfortunately completely overcrowded. But the prospect also exists outside of the economy. Not cozy inside. Left again.

Unfortunately for us there is no longer an option for the time from 14-17: 30 for today and in the future. A reservation is not possible during this period. For us with an arrival time of over an hour, the risk of getting a free place is too great.

Everything is super modern and the food is OK. The price-performance ratio is not balanced, however.

The welcome and service was great. The room was very nice, you had a fantastic view over the vineyards down into the valley. You could also eat well in the restaurant and spend the evening comfortably. The breakfast was also very good and plentiful. We would definitely book the hotel again.

The outdoor area has been renovated in a very modern way .... may be nice for one or the other fine wine tourist, for us the location has lost its charm. The view of the vineyards is still a dream, because luckily it couldn't be modernized away. Due to the elaborate corona concept, you currently have to wait a long time to allocate tables and then order ... The staff may be a bit more stressed and rougher than under normal circumstances. Wine tasty anyway.

Unfortunately now a tourist restaurant. Self-service in the beer garden, at prices that are so overpriced! Corona measures are adhered to to the outside world, but the toilets looked pathetic, so on a Saturday evening you should have cleaned them urgently! The view over the Mainschleife makes up for it ...

Great views, reservation essential, asked for a table with a view, unfriendly response, not possible ?. Self-service for drinks, food is then served to the table. Choice of food pretty limited, nothing special, the views and wine compensate. There are also lots and lots if mice ??? all around in the vineyards close to walls of the restaurant ...

Again and again an intoxicating view of the vineyards of the Main. Also worth seeing is the Church of the Protection of the Virgin with Joseph and Jesus in her arms.

Only had a morning coffee and a cake, but the place was very nice with beautiful view of the winiery.

Great view (Volkacher Mainschleife) to the wine yards and the valley, nothing special food.

We stayed for two nights in early August. Everything was great. The view overlooking the valley was phenomenal. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I also had a great time running on the lane by the vineyard. Only complain is that the room doesn’t equipped with A/C, therefore, our room facing valley was very hot due to the direct sun exposure.

Sensational view, great hotel, super nice and qualified staff who do their job with passion. Rooms are excellent, modern furnishings. In the own restaurant a visit is obligatory. Will definitely travel in the summer with bike in the luggage and explore the area. A visit to this beautiful house is just to be recommended! Oh yeah, there is one or the other wine ... ?? ... what could be nicer ?!

Ambitious Menu, yet I don't believe the dishes were thoroughly thought through. Although the meat was excellent, the dissonance of the dishes diminished my experience. All in all still worth a visit.

A wonderful place. No matter if you're cycle, drive or hike, you'll always have a great time going there and will always be rewarded with a great view. It has a amazing location. You can see the Main Loop and all the small villages along. Beautiful. To the restaurant itself, it is a bit more expensive, but it tastes incredible. They choose to cook slightly different but this makes the whole meal a million times better. Like add grapes to a curry souce and it is a whole new meal. I'd definitely recommend going there.

A phantastic location, especially on the terrace outside the restaurant to have dinner with scenic outlook on a beautiful Franconian landscape over the river Main.

A modern hotel that leaves nothing to be desired. The view of the vineyards is terrific. The kitchen is excellent, but especially the regional specialties. The terrace invites you to linger longer in good weather. We can recommend this hotel unreservedly. You do not find that often.

Amazing view Local wine was very good and so was the food. We rode our bikes from Volkach up to the vogelsburg.

Very good food with friendly and efficient service. Interesting menu and great wines. Moderately expensive. Make a reservation before you go - it does tend to get very crowded on the weekend. Parking is available outside. Take a refreshing walk afterwards through the adjacent vineyards for a stunning view of the Main valley.
